Artist Sarah Beth Timmons became enamored with lettering and calligraphy when learning cursive in the second grade. Today she creates and sells exquisite lettered and embroidered pieces. At this workshop, participants will learn how to use simple writing utensils to create modern calligraphy and then make their very own hand lettered sign. The whimsical plush animals she offers through her business, Little Teeth Marks, have become DIY Festival favorites. In this West Elm workshop, Stacie will share her love of needle felting and help us engage our imaginations as we create darling felt sloths for magnets or brooches. Please note that all workshop participants are required to arrive 15 minutes prior to the workshop start time.

Macramé Plant Holder

This NHMU Craft Workshop, presented by Craft Lake City, will be taught by artisan Marti Woolford of Marti Makes. Woolford will introduce attendees to macramé, the art of making decorative and functional objects from knotted cord. Participants will learn about the history of the craft, practice techniques for tying knots, and evaluate patterns used in macramé textiles. Woolford will then teach attendees to apply their new knowledge and skills to make intricate, hand-knotted plant hangers to take home. Marti Woolford is a Salt Lake City-based macramé artisan specializing in wall hangings, plant holders, and woven items for the home. Woolford finds comfort in the rhythmic flow of tying knots, and established her company, Marti Makes, to share her love of modern macramé.
